Dr Reza Sanaei
Dr Sanaei is an applied bioscientist and veterinary anatomist with an interest in bone and soft tissue implants. He has conducted research in a diverse range of topics such as biomaterials, bone biology and inflammatory bone disease. His expertise is in the use of imaging techniques, in vivo models and histomorphometry in the study of various tissue.

Associate Professor Pagel is a biochemist and molecular biologist with 30 years experience investigating skeletal muscle and bone pathology, injury and regeneration. His expertise lies in cell culture, transcriptomics, RT-PCR and the use of models of disease of the musculoskeletal system to understand pathology and develop novel therapies.

Aashna Tapia
Miss Tapia completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours, majoring in Zoology. She has worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Melbourne with both the Animal Welfare Science Centre and, more recently, the Translational Research Unit. She has collaborated with multiple researchers and contributed to a diverse range of research projects.

Ayda Farhoudi is completing her PhD research on optimising the different designs of 3D printed Titanium surgical prosthetics to evaluate bone in-growth.

Dr James Ki Son
Dr Son recently completed his PhD in 2024, supervised by Dr Sanaei. He used x-rays to identify limb angles in Thoroughbred foals that may predispose them to injury, highlighting the value of early monitoring to prevent racehorse limb damage.
