Translational Research Unit

The Translational Research Unit (TRU) is led by Dr Reza Sanaei and Associate Professor Charles Pagel within the Department of Veterinary Biosciences at The University of Melbourne.

Our research focuses on cytocompatibility, genotoxicity, and using preclinical in vivo models to evaluate biomaterials and implantable devices relying on a range of imaging techniques, including microCT, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and various microscopic techniques such as light, fluorescence, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

We work within interdisciplinary teams comprising researchers, engineers and commercial stakeholders in the medical industry to produce research outcomes aimed at improving human health.
