Building Resilient One Health Communities
Preventing Zoonoses, Reducing AMR and Improving Food Security
This Centre of Research Excellence will bring together a uniquely capable team of international leaders in One Health antimicrobial stewardship, social science intervention, microbiology and diagnostic innovation.
We will establish a highly innovative One Health research program aimed at building resilient One Health communities by:
- Empowering communities in low- and middle-income countries, with a focus on the influence of women in these communities.
- Developing One Health workforce capacity in South-East Asia and the Pacific by training researchers and building cross-sectoral partnerships and collaborations.
- Reducing zoonotic disease, increasing the appropriateness of antimicrobial use, and enhancing food security.
- Improving the resilience of communities to climate change.
The Antibiotic Wise Village program began in 2022 in Bengkel Village, Tabanan Regency (Bali), initiated by the Udayana One Health Collaboration Center (OHCC). This program aimed to raise public awareness about the prudent use of antimicrobials to prevent antimicrobial resistance. This CRE will leverage partnerships established through the Fleming Fund, COMBAT-AMR and the Asia-Pacific Consortium for Veterinary Epidemiology (APCOVE) to substantially advance the knowledge, practice and impact of One Health approaches to improving health outcomes for humans, animals and the environment by expanding the Antibiotic Wise Village program to a Resilient One Health Community program.
